Fellow Club Members,
We have scheduled planes for a fly-in the weekend of 8/25-8/27. We'd like some suggestions or votes on destinations. Some destinations we're thinking are:
1) Big Bear (76 nm) -
2) Kern Valley (108nm)- May be hot, Camping on field. Nearby lake. Hiking.
3) Oceano (133nm) - Camping on field - Beach, dunes and restaurants nearby.
4) Mammoth Lakes (223 nm) - $26/group shuttle to town. In-town bus. Camping or condos. Or we can hitch a ride across the street to Convict Lake for camping. Area offers hiking & fishing.
5) Lee Vining (245 nm)- (4090' RWY at 6800ft...Density Altitude) We could camp on the field and walk to Mono Lake.
6) Bryant Field, Bridgeport, CA (264 nm)- Hiking and Hot Springs nearby.
7) Columbia (266nm) - Asphalt and grass strips. Camping on field. State park, Lake, Hiking, Restaurants nearby.
8) South Lake Tahoe (309 nm)- Ourdoor activities, Casinos, Camping or hotel...
